Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Soulvale Studios LLC ("Soulvale", "we", "us") collects when you play TechRunners on any platform or use playtechrunners.com (together, the "Services"), why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it. We wrote it to meet the privacy laws of every country where the game is available, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and other US state privacy laws, the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Canada's PIPEDA and similar laws elsewhere.

The short version: we only use the data the game needs to run and stay safe, we don't show ads, we never sell your data or share it for advertising, crash reports are only sent with your permission, and you can delete your account and its data at any time, inside the game or at playtechrunners.com/delete-account.

1. Who we are

The Services are operated by Soulvale Studios LLC, a New York limited liability company located in Nassau County, New York, United States. We are the "controller" (GDPR, LGPD) and the "business" (CCPA) responsible for your personal data.

3. How we use it, and our legal bases

The GDPR, UK GDPR and LGPD require a legal basis for each use. We rely on these:

PurposeLegal basis

We do not sell personal data, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Chat near the game's computer-controlled players may be read by our own, self-hosted language model to generate their replies; that text is not sent to any outside AI provider and the replies are not stored.

4. Who we share it with

  • Other players see your username, public profile, stats, crew, leaderboard scores, and the chat messages and creations you send them or post publicly.
  • Service providers that process data on our behalf under contracts that protect it: Hostinger International Ltd. (our servers, located in the United States); Google LLC (Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications); Unity Technologies (Unity Cloud Diagnostics for crash reports if you agree to them). Email is sent from our own mail server.
  • App stores (Apple, Google, Valve/Steam) when you download the game or make a purchase, under their own privacy policies.
  • Stripe when you buy Creds on playtechrunners.com: it processes the payment under its own privacy policy and receives your email and account ID so the purchase can be delivered and supported.
  • Authorities and others when required: if the law requires it, to protect anyone's safety (for example reports of a child at risk), or to establish or defend legal claims.
  • A successor if Soulvale is involved in a merger or sale; this policy would continue to protect your data.

5. International transfers

We are based in the United States and our servers are in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your data is transferred to the US. For data from the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and Brazil we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum) or other lawful transfer mechanisms with our providers, and on the necessity of the transfer to provide the game you asked for. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards we use.

7. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can:

  • Delete your account in the game (Settings > Delete Account) or on the web at playtechrunners.com/delete-account, after confirming a code sent to your email. This permanently erases your account, profile, progress, items, chat messages and creations.
  • Access, correct or get a copy of your data, or ask us about how we use it, by emailing us. Many details can be edited directly in your profile.
  • Withdraw consent to crash reports in Settings > Privacy, and to notifications in your device settings, at any time.
  • Control who can contact you in Settings > Privacy (private messages, friend requests, crew invites) and block players.

Depending on where you live you also have these rights:

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection to processing based on legitimate interests, withdrawal of consent, and the right to complain to your data protection supervisory authority.
  • Brazil (LGPD): confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymisation, blocking or deletion of unnecessary data, portability, information about sharing, revocation of consent, and the right to petition the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD).
  • California and other US states (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and others): to know and access the personal information we collect, to delete and correct it, to data portability, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling. We don't sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of (a Global Privacy Control signal is therefore already respected). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorised agent; we will verify the request.
  • Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, China and elsewhere: the rights of access, correction, deletion and complaint that your local law gives you.

To exercise a right, email support@playtechrunners.com from the email linked to your account (or include your username for a guest account). We may ask for information to confirm it is you. We answer within the time your law requires (for example 15 days under the LGPD, one month under the GDPR, 45 days under the CCPA). If we refuse a request we will explain why and how you can appeal; to appeal, reply to our answer with "Appeal" in the subject.

8. Children

TechRunners is a game for a general audience. We ask every new player's age before they play, and we use the answer to protect younger players:

  • Players who tell us they are under 13 cannot send chat messages in any channel or post crew news, so they cannot share personal information with other players.
  • Players under 16 are never asked for optional consent, and no crash reports or other optional data are collected from them.
  • Saving progress or logging in with an email is meant for an adult: for young players, the email should be their parent's or trusted adult's.

We collect from children only what is needed to run the game and keep it safe (see section 2). If you are a parent or guardian, you can review, change or delete your child's data, or refuse further collection, by emailing support@playtechrunners.com or by using Settings > Delete Account in the game. If we learn that we collected data from a child beyond what this policy allows, we will delete it.

9. Cookies on playtechrunners.com

Our website only uses strictly necessary cookies: when you sign in to the player portal we set session cookies (trp_player, trp_player_at, trp_player_rt) that keep you signed in for up to 30 days. We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner to accept. The pixel editor stores your colour swatches in your browser's local storage only.

10. Security

We protect your data with encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), passwordless email-code login (codes are stored only as hashes and expire after 10 minutes), hashed session tokens, access limited to staff who need it, rate limiting and server hardening. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the game changes. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the game or by email before they take effect. Where the law requires your consent to a change, we will ask for it.
